The 20-minute CarFit assessments take place
Saturday, May 20, 2017
9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Prescott Gateway Mall
3250 Gateway Blvd
(Bring your car to the parking lot next to Dillard’s.)

“CarFit is not a driving test or mechanical inspection,” said Susan Connor, Director of Physical Rehabilitation Services at Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC). “It’s an interactive, educational opportunity that increases safety and mobility for mature drivers. YRMC saw the value of CarFit for the people of our community. That’s why our Physical Rehabilitation team got involved in this outstanding program. YRMC is pleased CarFit is part of the 2017 Celebrate Life Health Expo.”

During an assessment, a YRMC Occupational Therapist – specially trained as a CarFit instructor – reviews 12 key points of safety, for example how to:

  • Ensure adequate space between you and the steering wheel
  • Operate the safety devices in your personal vehicle
  • Use your seat belt properly
  • Adjust head rests for comfort and safety

“It gives people the opportunity to resolve issues they may be having with their cars,” Connor said. “It increases safety and mobility.”

In fact, after taking part in the assessment, 97 percent of past participants report their issues were resolved.

Limited assessment appointments are available during YRMC’s Celebrate Life Health Expo. Pre-register for your CarFit assessment by May 12 by calling (928) 771-5131, option 2.
