November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and here at Dignity Health, Yavapai Regional Medical Center, we’re serving up my top ten tips and tricks for eating well with diabetes (and getting great glucose control).
There’s no doubt that taking control of diabetes improves health and wellbeing. In fact, daily glucose control can lead to:
- Better energy
- Reduced fatigue
- Improved mood
- Stronger immune function
- Faster wound healing
Managing diabetes also reduces the risk of future complications of the disease, including:
- Heart disease and stroke
- Painful tingling or numbness in hands and feet
- Dental decay
- Problems with vision, or even blindness
- Kidney disease
Getting good glucose control does take some patience, time, and education, and a good team of healthcare providers (including diabetes educators) can provide much-needed support. Dignity Health, Yavapai Regional Medical Center offers diabetes education and one-on-one counseling in Prescott and Prescott Valley. To learn more, give them a call at 928-771-5794.
